Hello. I don't understand this explanation. Why does x= 2?

(x-2)(x-2) = 0

We have a perfect square, therefore x = 2

Oh boy. Those two horizontal lines between x and 2 means that wherever you see x you can replace it with 2 and wherever you see 2 you can replace it with x. We will opt to replace x with 2. So (x-2)(x-2) becomes (2-2)(2-2) = (0)(0). Know you need to understand that (x-2)(x-2) means (x-2) TIMES (x-2). So (0)(0)=0. Go to class and take good notes. If you teacher is not good then you need to change your session and get a decent teacher.
