Summer has made me completely forget the simplest things! I have this worksheet to be completed for the summer and I'm stuck on quadratic equations. I completely forgot what to do and how to do it. For example I have this: 6x2-4=5x So lost! About the farthest I could get to was setting them all equal to zero. From there I factor?

Factoring may or may not be an option. The quadratic formula will always work. Rearrange by subtracting 5x from both sides, so that you are in the form ax^2 + bx + c = 0, then apply the formula:

6x2-4=5x

6x2- 5x - 4 = 0

From there I factor?

Do you remember the "Discriminant" (i.e., the radicand in the Quadratic Formula)?

There is a fairly straightforward test which uses the Discriminant to determine whether a 2nd-degree polynomial factors nicely.

Quadratic polynomials factor nicely when B^2 - 4AC is a perfect square.

Of course, if you have trouble remembering how to factor, the Quadratic Formula is always available, as is Completing the Square.
