Solving Rational Equations uning LCD.

Uhh, I'm working on solving rational equations using the least common denominator. For example, here's a problem:

2(7x+1) + 1 = 2x+20
x+4 2x+8


And I don't really know how to start the problem.

Factor everything

\(\displaystyle \frac{2(7x+1)}{x+4}+1\,=\,\frac{2x+20}{2x+8}\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{2(7x+1)}{x+4}+1\,=\,\frac{2(x+10)}{2(x+4)}\)

Consider the Domain x ≠ -4
Multiply by the LCD and the fractions will disappear.

\(\displaystyle 2(7x+1)+(x+4)\,=\,(x+10)\)

Can you take it from there?
