Split - geomerty but algerbra ???

I am confused on what to do and whether or not I have worked out this problem correctly can someone please help

I am unsure of how to input the problem correctly but when I place this ^ sign will be to show that its the small number upper right side


(4x^4+3x^2+14) - (3x^4+14x^2+3)

my answer i worked out came out as

7^4+17x^2-14x^4

\(\displaystyle = \ 4x^4 \ + \ 3x^2 \ + \ 14 \ - \ 3x^4 \ - \ 14x^2 \ - \ 3\)

Collect terms with same "power" of x:

\(\displaystyle = \ 4x^4 \ - \ 3x^4 \ + \ 3x^2 \ - \ 14x^2 \ + \ 14 \ - \ 3\)

\(\displaystyle = \ (4x^4 \ - \ 3x^4) \ + \ (3x^2 \ - \ 14x^2) \ + \ (14 \ - \ 3)\)

now continue....
