So say I have a sample space made by throwing a die and a coin together

S = {(H1),(H2),(H3),(H4),(H5),(H6),(T1),(T2),(T3),(T4),(T5),(T6),(T7)}

Is the die giving a value "2" an elementary event?
Please explain to me why.

I don't think you meant to include (T7)!

Please quote your textbook's definition of "elementary event", and tell us what you think the answer might be, based on that.

If there is no definition there, try Wikipedia (though often that gets into things too deeply for beginners!).
