Two logarithm related questions

I am a first year college student studying Math and am having a lot of difficulty understanding logarithms. I need help with the following two problems from this weeks class:

Define y in terms of x in:

(a) log<sub>7y = -2 log7(x+2) + log7 3x

(b) e<sup>y = x-1

I assume?
[MATH]\log_7y=-2\log_7 (x+2)+\log_7 3x[/MATH][MATH]e^y=x-1[/MATH]
Look up "rules of logs" and work through some of the sites.
e.g. https://www.purplemath.com/modules/logrules.htm
These questions should then be fairly straightforward for you.
