Might be a bit of a basic question but I don't understand for the expectation of the uniform distribution of size k how we get from the left term to the right term (see image)
Oh- silly me! This is just a proof of arithmetic series. It didn't occur to me that this is just a simple arithmetic series. Yeah, I've seen this proof with Gauss before. Sorry about this! At least you refreshed my memory haha.
