So, I need help with this. It's a combining like terms question.

Equivalent Expression(Combine Terms and Factor)
Fill in the blank. Complete the equivalent expressions in each row.

Combine TermsFactor
1.1x + 0.3 − 0.7 + 2.1x
-0.4x + 3 − 2.4 − 0.2x
-0.6x + 8 − 1.6 + -0.2x

I would like to know what to do here. What am I supposed to do here?

Furthermore, I would also like to know if I got anything wrong, or if I'm forgetting a step, etc. Also, here's my work if you need it.

1st row problem: 1.1x + 2.1x -0.7 + 0.3
2nd row problem: -0.4x - 0.2x + 3 - 2.4
3rd row problem: -0.6x - 0.2x + 8 - 1.6

Thanks for any help!

Good. First step is to rearrange to get "like" terms together, which you have done.

Now to combine "like" terms: 3.2x - 0.4

Now to factor: 4(0.8x - 0.1) OR 0.4(8x -1)

2nd and 3rd up to you!

In early grades you might have been given the following two problems:
5-3 and 7-2.

Now they code the two problems into one problem as 5x +7y - 3x -2y (the order could be different) You the student need to understand that you have to only add/subtract the numbers that have x next to them and to add/subtract the numbers that have y next to them. The answer needs to be coded as well. After adding/subtracting the x numbers you need to put x next to the result. The same goes for y. Now if some terms do not have any coding then that is the code! So add/subtract the numbers that have no code. For example. 7x+8-5-2x = 5x+3
