is there a quick way to answer things?

Pie graph shows 1200 people surveyed. people asked to choose favorite color.

if 108degrees of the pie chart is color white. how many people is that?

i know its 360/108 = .3
then i can just .3 * 1200 = 360 people choose white

is there easier way to solve this?

appreciate any help thanks

i know [it's] 360/108 = .3

Whoops.

360/108 does not equal 0.3

The correct ratio is 108/360, and this equals 0.3

108/360 is a ratio, comparing a particular sector of the pie chart to the entire chart.

360/1200 is a ratio, comparing the number of those who prefer white to the total number of people surveyed.

These ratios must be equal because pie-chart sectors are proportional to the numbers that they represent. So, your method of reasoning is fine.

I would not say that other ways to solve this problem are easier, just different.
