A sawmill produces 8 ft long wall studs. The maximum desirable percent error for the lengths of the studs is 0.005. What range of lengths of studs is allowable?

To answer use this question use the formula E>or equal to |a-e| over e

How would I set the problem up?

Are you sure the percent error is 0.005 (E = 0.005%)?

I do not of any saw that can cut with that accuracy!

Please check your problem and confirm.

Yes I am sure I copied the problem straight from the book no errors I proofread it 3 or 4 times.
