This is the first computation for Vincenty's Formulae. I am wondering how the equations is derived. What it is or what it means or what is being calculated. I see to the left of the equation is sin and one of the greek symbols. It does not really look like theta to me. Could someone please explain this equation to me and how it was derived?

Yes I have have read through that document. It really does not explain in terms that I can understand what that first computation is doing. Or what the left hand side of the equation represents.
