Two cyclist leave a city at the same time, one going east and the other going west, the west bound cyclist bikes at 12mph faster than the east bound cyclist. After 2 hours they are 84 miles apart. How fast is each cyclist riding?

Re: so i need help its been awhile since i have done alegbra

Remember, d=rt.

So, the first cyclist has traveled 2r miles.

The second has traveled 2(r+12)

Between them they cover 84 miles.

2r+2(r+12)=84

Solve for r.
