Easy - draw a straight line, draw 3 disconnected segments of the polygon on the line. Then connect the 3 segments to make a polygon using as few segments as possible.

I assume in your dialect of English, "its three sides" can mean "three of its sides". I would not normally use it that way, but it clearly can't mean that the polygon has only three sides.
The question depends on details in the definition of a polygon: there can't be curved sides, and consecutive sides can't have the same direction. As lev888 said, just try drawing such a polygon, and then think about whether you can do it with fewer sides.
