Why is this not sigma squared?

Why do think it isn't sigma squared?
I'm thinking it is sigma squared. Mainly because all the other 2 fractions share the same denominator. It seems weird if it is not.

I have no idea why my professor left sigma for this fraction but all the other ones have sigma squared.

I cannot even find this problem in my math textbook.

I think you're saying that what you wrote is what your professor wrote, not your own work.

Have you considered that it might be a typo? Why not ask them about it? Professors are human, and can make mistakes; if you think something is wrong, it might actually be wrong!

Is there more work following this? Show it all to us, so we can see if the error is corrected later, or leads to an error. That can be a good way to determine whether your suspicions are right.
