To elaborate on the earlier reply: 1) Pick a variable for "the number". 2) Write an expression, in terms of the variable in (1), for "two-thirds of the number". 3) Write an expression, in terms of (2), for "six less than" (2). 4) Write an expression, in terms of (1), for "the opposite". 5) Set (4) equal to (3). 6) Solve.
