Suzanne fed birds outside her window. She used 4 bags of birdseed each week. How many bags did she use in one year?

I know that 4×7=28 and that 1 year=52 weeks.

I'm curious if I'm understanding this problem correctly. Would I be wrong if I multiplied 28×52?
I'm afraid of going in tomorrow with the wrong answer and still not understanding it afterwards.

Hello, and welcome to FMH! :)

I suspect you're only expected to use the approximation 1 year ≈ 52 weeks.

There are 365 days in a year. Not that 7*52=364, NOT 365. So there is just over 52 weeks a year. So the answer is just over 28*52=1456.

That would be for using 4 bags each DAY. The number of days in a week does not come into this problem.

There are (about) 52 weeks in a year, and 4 bags in a week (not 28). So multiply 4 × 52.
