x=5x-2 how to get to x=0.5 ?

So I have this x=5x-2 expression. The calculator say x=0.5 and it makes sense if I put 0.5 in there. But I don't understand how to get there without the calculator?

You are given that x= 5x- 2. Subtract 5x from both sides:

x- 5x= 5x- 2 - 5x

-4x= -2.

Divide both sides by -4,

-4x/-4 = -2/4

-x = -1/2

x = 0.5.

do -5x on both sides gives:
-4x = -2

Divide both sides by 4
-x = -0,5

Multiply both sides by *-1
x = 0,5
