How many yards are in 21 meters? Round the answer to nearest whole number.

a. 21,000 yards
b. 23 yards
c. 19 yards
d. 2.1 yards

Is there a specific conversion formula?

First, and foremost, you should consider scale.

Yards and meters are about the same size. This immediately discards choices A and D.

Yards are actually a little shorter than meters, so it will take more yards to cover the same distance. This discards choice C.

Generally, 1 Yard = 0.9144 meters, but we don't quite need this information on this question.

I'm sure there is.

1 m = 1.09 yards

By the way, I found that easily online, and you could do that, too.

But I think you are expected to use some "common sense" to answer this question, rather than a formula. In grade school, students learn that a meter is just a little bigger than a yard. So if you have 21 meters, that should be just a little bigger than 21 yards. Look at the answer choices...only one is a little bigger than 21 yards.

so 23 yards?

Very, very disappointing. It is okay to KNOW the right answer. There were four choices. Three were discarded. Why on earth does a question remain? A little more confidence, please.
