2x+3=3/2 Solve for x
x

okay here is the deal I solver for x and get x=6 but the book says it is -6 or S={-6}

where was my mistake? or is the book wrong?

I got -6. But, how can we point out your error when you don't show us your work?

2(x+3)=3x right?
2x+6=3x right?
-2x from both sides
x=6 no?

Um, no. The numerator of the first fraction was (2x + 3). So, when you cross-multiply here's what you have:

2(2x + 3) = 3(x)

Now continue.....
