My daughter is in the 4th grade and they are learning about Estimating Quotients we have 2 problems that we can not figure out...

The first one is:

63 divide 379 we are suppose to estimate each quotient

The second one is:

Some creative people make art from trash. Suppose an artist uses 312 pounds of crap metal to make 36 sculptures. About how much does each sculpture weigh?

Please help! Thank you!

First, you should try to state the problem correctly.
It should be 379 divided by 63. Not as you wrote it.
Note that 60 times 6 is 360. So a reasonable estimate is 6.

For the second one, note that 8 times 36 is 288 while 9 times 36 is 324 so what is a reasonable estimate?
