Company A charges $7.46 per month plus 13 cents a call and company B charges $6.17 per month plus 17 cents per call. For each company write an equation representing the cost of a given month. When are the costs for both companies the same? When is company A a better choice? When is company B a better choice? Also, I need to graph each situation, how can I do that with each equation?

Please help!!!!!! :D

Thanks!
Amanda

Hi Amanda

We do not do the work for you. we HELP you do the work. If we do it, that's no help to you on your next test.

Before worrying about graphing the equations, let's worry about writing the equations. First things first.

Let C = cost.

Let N = number of calls.

What is the equation for Company A? Do you know how to graph that if you label the vertical axix C and the horizontal axis N.

What is the equation for Company B? Do you know how to graph that equation?

I need to graph each [equation], how can I do that … ?

You could start the graph of the first equation by plotting the y-intercept (or C-intercept, if you choose to use the names N and C instead of x and y). This gives you one point of the line.

Next, you could pick some arbitrary value for the number of calls and then calculate the corresponding cost using the equation. This gives you a second point to plot.

Draw a straight line through the two points.

How much experience do you have writing linear equations or graphing lines? These message boards are for tutoring. It's difficult to tutor people who don't say anything about their situation.

If you could explain exactly where you're currently stuck on this exercise, the tutors here would be in a better position to help you. We don't know why you're confused until after you tell us!
