Still in need of help !

My teacher is difficult to learn from I am failing his class and have to make up all this work, I am completely stuck on this problem.

Write the sum using sigma notation and then find its value.

8+4+2+...+1/128 I know it's being divided by 2 but I have never been great at sigma notation any help please?

Try using what you learned back in algebra about sequences and series, and particularly "geometric" sequences and series. For online lessons to refresh on the notation, try here. ;)

I just don't know what equation would work or how to find it :confused::confused: I believe it would have n/2 in it but can't find something that works :(

sigma notation

Write the sum using sigma notation ?
\(\displaystyle \sum _{n=0}^{\infty } \frac{8}{2^n}\)

Do you know the value of...

\(\displaystyle \sum _{n=0}^{\infty } \frac{1}{2^n}\)

Note that...

\(\displaystyle \sum _{n=1}^{\infty } \frac{1}{2^n}\) = 1
