Hi guys,
I'm looking at an open box optimization problem. I need to determine what the side lengths of the squares should be to give a box of maximum volume. Asked to give an exact answer as a surd (in m) and also an answer to the nearest cm. The formula for the volume V (in m3) of the box is V= 4x3-6x2+2x.
I got the answer 1/2-sqrt(3)/6 m or 21 cm (to the nearest cm). Is this the correct answer? If not would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
