Hi I would like someone to walk me though this problem there are a couple I have like this on my homework and not sure really how to do it. Also could you if you dont mind explain some of the algebraic steps thanks in advance.

A showroom for a department store is to be rectangular with walls on three sides. 6-ft door openings on the two facing sides and a 10-ft door opening on the remaining wall. The showroom is to have 800ft2 of the floor space. What dimensions will minimize the length of wall used?

First step would be to assign variable names to the unknowns:

We need to find length and width of the show-room

Let

the length of the room = L and

the width of the room = W

assume that that the sides with 'W' has the 6' doors and one the side with 'L' has the 10' door → W ≥ 6 and L ≥ 10'

Length of the wall = 2L + 2W - 12 -10

and

L * W = 800

and you want to minimize L+W

What have you been taught about this situation?
