The rate of intake, R, during respiratory cycle for a person at rest is proportional to a sine wave with period 6 seconds. If the rate of intake is 0.8 liters per second at 1.5 seconds, find the formula for R.

What is the general equation of a sine function?

The general equation of a cosine function is given in one of your previous posts.

This question requires no calculus. Just use what you learned back in algebra:

What is the general form of a proportional (that is, a direct-variation) equation?

What is the expression for a sine wave with a period of 6?

Plugging this expression into the general form, and then plugging the given data point (t, R) = (1.5, 0.8) into the general form also, what do you get for the proportionality constant?

What then is the formula for R?

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work and reasoning for each of these questions. Thank you! ;)
