I was given the problem
f(x) = x2 - 8x + 8
and was asked to put the equation in standard form so that i can find the vertex.
here is my work..
f(x) = x2 - 8x + 8
f(x) = (x2 - 8x + 16) + 8 - 16 ((i divided -8 by 2 and then squared the result, which got me 16, then i added and subtracted 16 from both sides))
f(x) = (x - 4)2 - 8 (( i factored x2 - 8x + 16 and got (x-4)2))
so the vertex is (4, -8)
did i make a mistake?
