Confused and slightly lost with an U substitution integral

Hey, so I've just started solving integrals, and I've been solving one particular problem. Non the less, the result was wrong so I checked the steps with wolframalpha, however I cannot wrap my head around a particular +1.

I'm confused about the +1, that appears in the last line ( the +1 before du). Where does it come from?


Hopefully this isn't too messy of a post.

It comes from x2 + 1 !!

u = \(\displaystyle \sqrt{2x - 1}\)

u2 = ??

2x = ??

x = ??

x2 = ??

x2 + 1 = ??
 
I'm an idiot lol -.- Thanks for the help, it seems I need a bit of a break to clear my head. Really appreciate the help.
