If you look at what I quoted from you above, you'll see that I changed your MATH codes to backquotes, which mark AsciiMath, a simplified version of LaTeX…
I'd not heard about AsciiMath, until I saw Dr. Peterson's post above.

At http://asciimath.org/, I see a disclaimer which seems to state that AsciiMath currently works with only the Firefox and Safari web browsers.

Will somebody who uses a different browser please check the post above, to see whether the AsciiMath in Dr. Peterson's quote appears okay?

Thanks for noticing that issue. It does look good in Chrome, which I don't normally use for this:
