There is a theorem that justifies this step.Why did you set up proportions? These triangles are not similar so I don't see how proportions apply to those sides.
OHHHHH~ I see how that works now.Since you've solved it, I'll tell you how I immediately did it in my head.
The perimeter is 30, so the sum of the unknown sides has to be 20. They have to be in the ratio 3:7. Since 3+7 = 10, we just have to double everything.
