2 Problems Gometry/Algebra Review

I'm lost right now, this is a Geometry/Algebra Review worksheet as well as one question of my own.

I'm on #9: If m<RTS=8x+18 find x so that TR basically equal TS along with a figure. At first I though maybe 8x+18 you would divide 8 by 18 would be 2.25 by I checked this problem and it came out to be 18 but wouldn't you add x? Or, am I doing this wrong?

As well as what comes after mm? The little lines in the middle of a ruler?

We cannot see what that figure looks like - thus you have us at a disadvantage.

You'll not see that on a ruler - it is called micro-meter.
