3x=15=?
My workings: so we know by looking at the sum that from side we have to have an x = the number
3x divide by 3 which is x and 15 divide by 3= 5
answer: x =5
Am I right, if not provide explanation please.

3x / 3 = 15/3
x = 3

Do not write "3x=15= ?". Write "Solve 3x=15".

As simple as:
if 3 candies cost 15 cents, how much does 1 candy cost?

I like to call the variable what. So I read 3x=15 as 3 times what equals 15. Since I know that 3*5=15, then x=5
