A long distance trucker traveled 200 miles in one direction during a snow storm. The return trip in rainy weather was accomplished at double the speed and took 5 hours less time. Find the speed going. Please help me with this. Thank you.

let the speed going up = R

Then time going up = ??

Speed coming back = 2*R

Then time coming back = ??

The return trip ... took 5 hours less time

Now what....

Would the answer be 20? I had a similar one that was 260 miles and the answer was 26. Thank you.

With that answer - calculate the times to travel (up and back) - and see whether those numbers differ by 5 hours (as required by the problem statement).

Ok. It will take me awhile to figure it out. Thank you for your help. I will reply if I need more help. Thnak you.
