A unit price is a price per unit of measurement. The unit of measurement is irrelevant. The point is to get prices into a common unit.

For example, it is common to quote a unit price for labor in dollars per hour, but it is also common to quote a unit price in dollars per year.

In many cases, the unit is weight, dollars per ounce (for gold) or dollars per pound (for potatoes) or dollars per ton (for carbon steel).

For liquids, the unit (in the US) is frequently a measure of volume like ounces, quarts, or gallons.

So what is the most intuitive unit to use for this problem? Ounces, right?

So in the 64 ounces bottle, what are you paying for just one of the 64 ounces?

In the 48 ounce bottle, what are you paying for just one of the 48 ounces?

So which bottle has the lower unit price?

Nothing complex going on here once you know what unit price means.
