Andy is going to lay turf in his back garden. He needs to cover an area 6000mm by 4500mm. Is he right about the cost?

Andy is going to lay turf in his back garden. He needs to cover an area 6000mm by 4500mm

Each piece of turf is 610mm wide and 1640mm long.
Andy can cut and join the pieces of turf.
Each piece of turf costs $3.35
Andy buys the turf in packs of 10pieces.

Andy thinks that $110 will be enough to buy all the turf he needs.

Is Andy correct.
Thanks.

What thoughts do you have? Please read this summary of our posting guidelines. You've copied the whole problem, as we ask, but have not given us any indications of what help you need.

For a start, what is the area he needs to cover? What is the area of one piece of turf?

💡 Area formula for a rectangle:

Area = Length × Width
