Dear Math Help participants

The task is to construct the minimum-cost pipeline from an offshore platform to an onshore refinery. The refinery is located 2 miles up the coast from the platform, and the platform is located 1 miles off the coast, as shown in the diagram below. Assuming it costs $100K per mile to build the pipeline on the land, and $250K per mile to construct the pipeline offshore, what is the minimum cost for the project?

I am stuck on this optimization problem and dont know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached is the image of what the refinery and pipeline would look like.

What's the total cost?

Maybe: \(\displaystyle \sqrt{1+x^2} \cdot 250 + (2-x) \cdot 100\)
