Again word problems...

17. A truck is traveling due north at 30km/hr toward a crossroad. On a perpendicular road a police car is traveling west toward the intersection at 40km/hr. Both vehicles will reach the crossroad in exactly one hour. Find the vector currently representing the displacement of the truck with respect to the police car.

Now if any of y'all understood that ....please explain it to me. Thanx :D

Hello, Dinky_Bell!

Are you really having difficulty drawing diagrams?
. . That seems to be the root of your problems,
. . yet you are studying vectors?

The truck is moving north at 30 kph and will reach the intersection in one hour.
. . Hence, it is now 30 km south of the intersection.

The police car is moving west at 40 kph and will reach the intersection in one hour.
. Hence, it is now 40 km east of the intersection.
Code:
        | 40
        + - - - - *P
        | /
     30 | /
        | /
        | /
        *
        T
And they want you to write the vector \(\displaystyle \vec{PT}\).

So you need \(\displaystyle |PT|\), the magnitude of \(\displaystyle \vec{PT}\), and its direction.

What's stopping you?

thank you :D

its not the diagram that im bad at. when the problem is in words, it just kinda jumbles up, and i get confused
