Ok, one more today

*I shared a room with my brother. The room's area was 300 square meters, and its length was 5 meters longer than the width.
A) find the length and width of the room
B) find the length of the diagonal of the room
C) The diagonal separated my side from my brothers side. How much floor space in square feet did each of us have?

* Of course I know that a rectangles area is LengthXwidth......My first inclination is: 300=w(w+5)....but this doesn't seem right. I think if I can figure out how to solve the initial problem I can find the diagonal......any help on getting started??

Possibly your first inclination is right. Why don't you solve it and see if it is a reasonable answer. Actually, you might get two possible answers, one of which will make more sense than the other.
