Let me start off with I am very poor at math.

Ok my question is. I am moving in with a friend and he makes a lot more then I do.

So if our rent is $800
his annual income is 25,000
my annual income is 12,000
and we want to pay equal percentage based on our annual incomes, I would pay less of course.

How does the math work?

Thank you

To learn how to set up and solve "percentage" exercises, please try here. Then, using the methodology explained in the lesson, think through this exercise:

a) What is the total income? (Hint: Add.)

b) What percentage of this total is his income? (Hint: Solve (his income) is (some percentage) of (the total income).)

c) Then what portion of the rent should he pay? (Hint: Solve (his payment) is (c's percentage) of (the total rent).)

d) Then what portion of the rent should you pay? (Hint: Subtract.)

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work in following the above step-by-step instructions. Thank you! ;)
