Hi all, thanks for reading this.

I have an exam tomorrow and can't seem to get my head around certain bearing questions... I'm fine with using the sine and cosine rules to find unknown lengths, but i always crumble when it comes to part c of the question, "what bearing must the yacht sail to get back to the starting point"? or something similar to this. I can't seem to find a definitive rule for finding this "return bearing"4.PNG4.5.PNG2.PNG3.PNG

I've uploaded a few photos from practise exams as examples.

What do you mean by a "definitive rule" to determine the return bearing? Looks like you calculated it correctly for question 11.

The general answer you are looking for is to use the law of cosines twice.

You have two sides and an included angle. You can use that to find the third side. How specifically?

With three sides given, you can find the unknown angles. How specifically?
