The distance s to school is 1/5 mile more than the distance c to the pool.

s = 1/5 + C

I know this is wrong. Help

Are you using "c" and "C" to mean the same thing? (This is not standard mathematical practice, so please forgive me if my assumption is in error.)

Are you given values for "s" or "c"? What are the instructions?

Thank you.

Eliz.

S=distance to school

and

C = distance to pool

This is the part I do not understand?

Which part is the "this" that you don't understand?

And what are the instructions for this exercise?

Thank you.

no, you are correct ... the equation you wrote matches the information given in the sentence. Good job!
