Bling Cell Phones and Ring Cell Phones have different data plans, based on gigs used.

Hi
First post, thanks for the help, not good with this

Bling cell phone company charges $20 per month plus $5 for every gig of data used. Ring cell phone company charges $50 per month plus $2 for every gig of data used. How many gigs of data would be used for every gig of data used if both companies charged the same amount? Which plan would you choose? Why?

Sorry not good with word problems
Thanks

What do you need to "find" in this problem?

First name the variable whose value you need to find.

And continue....

Is there a way you could reword this- " How many gigs of data would be used for every gig of data used if both companies charged the same amount?" I'm not quite sure what they are asking.

Can you try something? Anything? This is a help site. We help students who get stuck. You need to tell us where you are stuck.

If all else fails then try this:

1 gig: Bling charges 20 + 5*1. Ring charges 50 + 2*1. Not equal
2 gigs: Bling charges 20 + 5*2. Ring charges 50 + 2*2. Not equal
3 gigs: Bling charges 20 + 5*3. Ring charges 50 + 2*3. Not equal
4 gigs: Bling charges 20 + 5*4. Ring charges 50 + 2*4. Not equal
Do you see a pattern? Everything is the same except what is in red. It equals the number of gigs. You want to know when the two charges are equal.

So the equation will be 20 + 5g = 50 + 2g

We figured it out last night
G = gig
20+ 5g = 50+ 2g

5g-2g =3g

20 + 3g = 50
-20 . -20
3g= 30
÷ ÷
3. 3
G= . 10

Teacher said it was correct today
