Use what you learned back in algebra to compute his pay each way, and then compare the results.

What is seven percent of his total sales? (Refresh here.)

How much will he be paid for his first forty hours? (Hint: Multiply)

What is his over-time rate? (Hint: Take half of his hourly rate, and add it to his hourly rate. This is "time and a half".)

How much will he be paid for his over-time hours? (Hint: Multiply)

How much then will he be paid, based on his hours? (Hint: Add)

Then which pay scheme pays better? (Hint: Pick the bigger amount.)

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work and results for the step-by-step instructions above. Thank you! ;)

so his total pay is = 320+96= $416
comission 7% of 6120= 428.4
so comission is better and it's his gross pay
is this right?
