(a) The total revenue and total profit functions, in ringgit of a product in TRG Enterprise are
given by R(x) = x3 − 95 − 800x and P(x) = 1
3 x3 + 800x − 120 where x is the number of
units produced and sold. Obtain the level of production so that total cost is minimum.
(5 marks)
(b) The cost of producing 200 units is RM22,700. If a marginal cost function, is given by
C'(x) = 24x − 0.012x2 + 0.002x3, where x is the level of output.
i. Deduce the total cost function. (6 marks)
ii. Find the cost when 500 units are produced. (2 marks)
(c) The demand function for rooms in a hotel is given as x = 100−p
2 , where x is the number of
rooms demanded per day and p is the price in ringgit. If the cost per day is RM20,
determine
i. The price per room per day in order to get maximum revenue. (6 marks)
ii. The price per room per day in order to get maximum profit. (6 marks)
