Hi

My sons homework has an isosceles triangle. The measurements are in cm. The sides are 3x-5, 2x, and 19-x. The question wants him to solve the perimeter. Looking at the video helps if we know the perimeter and solve for x, but not solving for the perimeter.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Which two sides are equal?

This is important because three different valid isosceles triangles result depending on which sides are supposed to be equal. All three of them have different perimeters.

My money's on [MATH]3x - 5 = 2x[/MATH] being the match, since it's the only pair that doesn't result in any fractions.
