I think your assignment is: Differentiate in respect to x Y=5e3x - 8e-2x You should post it as: Y = 5*e^(3x) - 8*e^(-2x) and you are correct - the answer should be written as: Y' = 15*e^(3x) + 16*e^(-2x)................................[because (-)(-) \(\displaystyle \to \ +\)] So your work is correct and the answer should come with '+' , as you had suspected.
