What is the distance between the points (-19, -2) and (46, -74) ?

The distance is the hypotenuse of a right triangle. The legs are formed by the length between the x-values and the length between the y-values.

-19 - 46 = -65 Use the absolute value since we want length and so not need the sign.
-2 - (-74) = 72

So the legs are 65 and 72
Pythagoras time: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
