How did you arrive at the answers - either $11,250 or $12,000?Currently having a bit of a disagreement on whether the answer for this question is $11,250 or $12,000.View attachment 32721
(10% of 5,000) + (15% of 5,000) + (20% of 30,000) + base salery = 11,250How did you arrive at the answers - either $11,250 or $12,000?

This is Correct(10% of 5,000) + (15% of 5,000) + (20% of 30,000) + base salery = 11,250
I think the question is missing a piece of information, whether the sales were one occurrence or made up of multiple. If we were to assume that it's one occurrence, then 20% of 40,000=8,000 -> Her total salary is 4,000+8,000=12,000.This is Correct
I had assumed, like it is done at corporations (at USA), that the "bonus" is calculated at the end of each month, and paid up along with the salary, and the bonus is progressive. But then as you said, the question was not totally explicit.I think the question is missing a piece of information, whether the sales were one occurrence or made up of multiple. If we were to assume that it's one occurrence, then 20% of 40,000=8,000 -> Her total salary is 4,000+8,000=12,000.
We don't have enough information as to the value of each occurrence to do what the OP did. For example, the sales could've been made up of two occurrences:
(1) 5k -> Commission is 10% * 5k = 500
(2) 35k-> Commission is 20%*35k = 7000
Total salary= 4000+7000+500=11500.
I believe that the question isn't meant to be answered like tax brackets and it's only answerable if we were to assume the 40k is from one occurrence of sale.
Steve, why do you have to expose how I make my living. I was hoping nobody would notice. Let's keep it between us. I'll give you $0.05 out of every $1.??I'd like to know what happens to that $1 from $5000 to $5001?!
I don't get it. Are you talking about the gap from $ 5000.01 to $ 5000.99? There is no $1 there!!I'd like to know what happens to that $1 from $5000 to $5001?!
Ha! Steven back in the corner again! ?I don't get it. Are you talking about the gap from $ 5000.01 to $ 5000.99? There is no $1 there!!
