Here are six Toms, with spaced-out last names:

A) \(\;\;\) C R ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ \( \quad \) U I S ─ ─ E ─ ─

B) \(\;\;\) P E ─ ─ ─ \( \quad \) T ─ ─ ─ T Y

C) \(\;\;\) B R A \( \quad \) ─ ─ \( \quad \) D Y

D) \(\;\;\) ─ ─ ─ F - ─ ─ ─ O R ─ ─ ─ D

E) \(\;\;\) ─ ─ ─ T ─ ─ H \( \quad \) ─ ─ ─ U M B ─ ─

F) \(\;\;\) L ─ ─ E H R ─ ─ E R

Each of those six lines also denotes a common word or phrase. Find them, with the help of these jumbled hints:

"Spanking" egotistical Yukon neighbor fiery war weapon, dawn war ender!

?

a) corporal punishment - Spanking

b) peace treaty - war ender

c) break of day - dawn

d) self absorbed - egotistical

e) british columbia - Yukon neighbor

f) flame thrower - fiery war weapon

I enjoyed your last two puzzles more than I enjoy the crypts. Crypts are fun but better in a crossword where you can have some support from other clues.

That's a good point, Romsek. I don't have a general sense of how difficult my crypts are; I like setting over solving! (Also, I haven't played crypts all that long.)

Thanks. I'll fill in some letters, with my hints. Maybe I'll try a mini grid, once in a while, too..
