I am so rusty with now.

I need help with this, I know it is easy but I can't remember how:

a = primary cost
b = primary percentage
c= a*b+c
c = secondary cost
d = secondary percentage
e = c*d+c
e = total cost

This is all I could come up with but I know it sucks:

c=a*b+a e=c*d+c

Thanks All!

Please post the original problem.

That makes no sense...should be something like:
c = a + a*b = a(1 + b)

As already told, post ORIGINAL problem in FULL....

Hi, it is as follows. I can do it easily enough in excel in two stage but I can't seem to put it in one expression only

a = primary cost
b = primary percentage
c= a*b+a
c = secondary cost
d = secondary percentage
e = c*d+c
e = total cost

(a)Cost
10
(b)DI %
0.11
(d)Markup
0.3

a
a*b
c
c*d
e
10
1.1
11.1
3.3314.43

I hope this helps

… can't seem to put it in one expression only …
Have you ever studied algebra? There's a concept known as 'substitution' that works well for what you're trying to do.

Substitution yields:

e = a*(b+1)*(d+1)
