The Tourism Services (S.T.) of a northern beach inform that, at a certain time of the
day, the average temperature of the sea waters is "high". As doubts arose among
beachgoers, the temperature was recorded at the indicated time over 25 days and an
average temperature of 17 degrees was obtained with a corrected standard deviation
of 1 degree. It is known that the temperature of sea waters is normally distributed.
The)
a) Build a confidence interval for the true mean temperature value with a 99%
confidence level.
b) Build a confidence interval in which the true value of the standard deviation of the
temperature of the sea water is 95% confidence.
